Boston, MA
This reconstruction project is a heavily trafficked mile of Commonwealth Avenue, stretching from Kenmore Square to the “B.U. Bridge” through the literal heart of Boston University’s campus. The project was jointly funded by MassDOT, the MBTA, the City of Boston, and Boston University – requiring particularly complex owner coordination.
The project was designed to make this section of Commonwealth Avenue more pedestrian-friendly, while also providing beautification and transit improvements. Scope included realigned roadways, widened sidewalks, raised granite planters, sidewalk furniture, landscaping (including over 200 new trees), as well as transit and signal improvements.
In May of 2008, VP for Campus Construction in “BU Today”, shared, “We couldn’t have asked for a better team. McCourt works around our academic schedule, and they’ve been very cooperative during major university events.”
