East Boston, MA
The Piers Park II project developed a vacant parcel on the East Boston waterfront and added 6 acres of premier urban green space to the Piers Park I. The project involved installing 2,100 LF of water and drain lines and 36 EA drain structures. 7,000 CY of excavation and placement of 21,000 CY of gravel backfill turned the flat site into a parcel that now has a natural berm to protect the neighborhood from future storm surges. The project team installed 5,400 LF of conduit and 36 light poles.
McCourt was tasked with constructing site furnishings that included a large playground climbing structure, an array of musical equipment, a water play area, and two large shade sail structures.
The project also constructed a 2,000 SF building that will be the new home of the East Boston Sailing Center. The building had twelve subcontractors that needed careful coordination and management to maintain the project schedule.
